In this second Asha SurveykshaN, we covered her songs from the 60s. Participants were asked to select up to 40 solos (including solos, "mostly" solos, and solos with chorus) sung by Asha for Hindi films and non-film albums, envisioning a desert island scenario.
The most widely selected song, by 77% participants, was raat akelii hai from Jewel Thief (1967) followed closely by aage bhii jaane na tuu from Waqt (1965) and nigaahe.n milaane ko jii chaahataa hai from Dil Hi To Hai (1963) both with 75% selections.
The year that clearly produced the most memorable songs from the decade is 1966 - the year of Teesri Kasam, Anupama, Ye Raat Phir Na Aayegi, and Sawan Ki Ghata among others. It is, however, 1962's Sahib, Biwi Aur Ghulam with its four superb solos that found a place in most lists, accumulating a score of 109.
There was more convergence in choices in this survey. Three of the songs were in over 75% people's lists. No song crossed that mark in the first survey. The songs that were chosen by over 50% people numbered 25 this time, compared to 8 in the first survey.
For the complete results, with over 280 songs selected by our survey participants, see the full list.
